What’s in a Name with Ben Rosenbaum

Hope Valley is a place where everyone knows your name and story; that is, except for Hickam. There was quite a stir among the Hearties the first time Hickam was referred to as Mike. While he did not have the same on-screen exposure as others in the town, there was no denying that fans had been paying attention to him all along. Social media lit up and found this new name puzzling. Regardless of which name is preferred one thing has remained consistent, Hope Valley would not be the same without him. His subtle presence and unfailing support have aided the community on many occasions and in a multitude of ways.

Ben Rosenbaum has been part of the When Calls the Heart family since the first season. His entertaining tweets and online interactions are thoroughly enjoyed by fans around the world. Ben’s sense of humour and kindness are two qualities often noted by Hearties after meeting him. With Hickam returning in season seven, Ben graciously took the time to share insight into his endearing character and his life beyond the set.

Designed in Detail with Ginna Scotto

Stepping on to a set for the first time brings an array of emotions and an experience of awe. The Hearties who have had the opportunity to tour “Hope Valley” during a Hearties Family Reunion will recall the realistic feel of the set, as though they have stepped back in time, to a fully operational town. In the off-season, there is a stark contrast to a fully decorated set; empty buildings remain where a thriving town once was. It is a surreal experience to see the set decorated for the first time and upon closer look, the amount of detail that is put into every single aspect.

Ginna Scotto is the talented Production Designer for season seven of When Calls the Heart. It is her role to ensure the overall look of the show, from the design to the finest detail. Ginna discloses more about her passion for set design, a closer look into decorating Hope Valley, and the incredible team she works with to make it all happen.

Switching Lines with Kayla Wallace

Fiona Miller raised a few eyebrows from the moment she stepped off the stagecoach. Her forward approach and modern look easily stood out among the folks in Hope Valley. Despite a rather rocky start, Fiona quickly connected with the town and found her place. From party lines to hemlines, Hope Valley has been forever changed by this lively and contemporary character.

While Fiona received mixed reviews in her early appearances, Kayla Wallace was warmly welcomed on social media. Kayla’s energy and excitement had the Hearties curious about the role that she would be playing. Although Fiona is a switch from what is expected in Hope Valley, Kayla’s talented portrayal of her has connected us to a character and storyline that we couldn’t imagine the series without.

The days leading up to the premiere episode of a favourite series or movie often include promotional images across social media.
