We have taken the time to reflect internally on recent events and the racial injustices occurring both here in Canada and in the US, and want to affirm to our subscribers, suppliers, production partners and employees, our commitment to a society that is diverse, tolerant, respectful and inclusive. We stand in solidarity with the Black and Indigenous communities and People of Colour across our industry, our country and the globe and are opposed to racism in all its forms.
As a member of the Canadian broadcast community, we recognize our responsibility to amplify the voices and stories of BIPOC creators and to ensure that the content we air is reflective of our richly diverse country. While we are proud that we have featured programming from a variety of marginalized groups on our channels, including BIPOC, women and the LGBTQ+ community, we recognize that we can do more to share the stories and experiences that are representative of the cultural diversity of Canadians. We will be implementing mandatory Inclusion and Diversity training for all employees across the company, beginning in the Fall of 2020. Our president and CEO Don McDonald has joined over 200 other Canadian business leaders and their companies in signing the BlackNorth Initiative CEO pledge, expressing their commitment to remove systemic barriers negatively affecting the lives of Black Canadians.
